Clyde R. Simien and Rickey W. Miniex founded the law firm of Simien & Miniex in July of 1987. The firm began in a 750 square foot building on St. John Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. The firm now occupies a 10,000 square foot two story office complex built to efficiently house eight attorneys. The firm consists presently of five attorneys, two paralegals, three legal secretaries, a receptionist, and a bookkeeper. The firm performs work in the areas of automobile accidents, wrongful death, offshore injuries, defective products, Energy law, Tax law and Governmental defense litigation. Our Clients have included Lafayette Consolidated Government, Louisiana Public Service Commission, the Office of Risk Management for the State of Louisiana, the Department of Revenue for the State of Louisiana, the Lafayette Airport Commission and a number of other individuals and businesses in the community.

Clyde R. Simien and Rickey W. Miniex have successfully presented more than one thousand trials, civil and criminal, in the Acadiana area and the State of Louisiana. Both were Assistant District Attorneys for more than fifteen years. Their early experience includes that of law clerks working closely with judges in the 15th Judicial District and the 16th Judicial District. This experience early in their careers provided a foundation for a successful future. As law clerks, they were exposed to a variety of ways of presenting cases by many attorneys in the community and had the opportunity to get critical insight from experienced judges as to which methods were most effective.

Clyde R. Simien and Rickey W. Miniex received Bachelors of Science degrees in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Rickey W. Miniex also received an undergraduate of Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Finance. Clyde R. Simien is a member of the Louisiana Society of Public Accountants and Rickey W. Miniex is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. Clyde R. Simien and Rickey W. Miniex received their legal training from the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Both have also successfully completed law courses at Paul M. Hebert at Louisiana State University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They both graduated in the top 10 students with Rickey graduating as the second ranking student in the class with a grade point average of 3.49 based upon a 4.00 scale.

Todd Swartzendruber, an associate with the firm, is a 2001 graduate of Drake University Law Center and is a Certified Public Accountant. Todd earned his bachelor degree from the University of Northern Iowa in accounting in 1997. Holli Yandle, another associate with the firm, is a 2001 graduate of Loyola of New Orleans School of Law. Holli also earned a bachelor degree in accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Julie Steele, a third associate with the firm, is a 2005 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert School of Law (LSU) and she also earned a bachelor degree in accounting from Lipscomb University in 2002.

Clyde and Rickey have both written law review articles for the Southern University Law Review. Both have also taught legal courses at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Clyde has taught Criminal Justice and Rickey has taught Administrative Law. All five of the attorneys of Simien & Miniex are members of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Both Clyde R. Simien and Rickey W. Miniex have been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. Each has sufficient expertise to qualify in all Federal Courts but have not had a need for this as of this date. However, Rickey has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas for the purpose of presenting a significant personal injury matter in Texas. Upon admission, Rickey successfully pursued this case to completion. Both are licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.

Each attorney in the firm has a strong business background with each attorney having accounting undergraduate degrees. As mentioned above, Rickey also has a Finance degree in addition to the Accounting degree.

The senior partners are lifelong residents of Louisiana. Clyde R. Simien is originally from Opelousas, Louisiana, with his parents continuing to reside there. Rickey W. Miniex is originally from Sunset, Louisiana. His parents also continue to reside there. Holli Yandle is originally from Houma, Louisiana but now resides in Lafayette, Louisiana. Todd is originally from Des Moines, Iowa and now resides in Crowley, Louisiana. Julie is originally from Tennessee but now resides in Lafayette.
